The 3D aerial simulation below shows the placement of the proposed Kairoi Belmar apartment building on the east edge of Belmar Park with no buffer area between the park and the building. The dark areas are the wildlife ponds in the park.
Behind the building is the 777 S Wadsworth property which the developer is under contract to purchase. The developer has stated they considered building 12 stories next to the park since they can do that without a zoning change. They decided to downsize that option to the proposed 6 story structure. So will they build 12 stories with the second building?
This area is described by the Planning Department and the Mayor as ‘Downtown Lakewood’. What do you think? Don’t forget to visualize an additional 6,000 car trips per day coming and going to those two buildings.
The original PowerPoint file is attributed to city staff member James Crawford and was provided by Lakewood Planning Department.
